An active shooter situation in downtown Midland, Texas has resulted in at least one fatality, with others injured. Midland Mayor Lori Blong confirmed this information during a Friday press conference.
According to Mayor Blong, there are a total of 11 victims. Police have set up a secure perimeter and are urging residents to steer clear of the area. Specific details about the shooting location remain unclear.
During the press conference, Mayor Blong mentioned that details about the shooter remain unconfirmed. However, the suspect is reportedly contained within a building.
The FBI is aware of the situation and has deployed agents from its Midland satellite office to the scene, as reported by a bureau source to Fox News Digital.
The incident began in southeast Midland, moving across south Midland, with police first responding at 8:03 a.m. local time.
Midland Memorial Hospital reported receiving nine victims. Among them, four are in the operating room, while five are stable. Due to the situation, the hospital’s main campus was under lockdown for nearly two hours. The emergency department remains locked down.
