President Trump has called for a Department of Justice investigation, urging that Democrats be charged for what he terms as extortion. He accuses them of intimidating Republican officials and party donors following the recent midterm elections.
In a statement on Truth Social, Trump wrote, “The Democrats are threatening numerous individuals, including the U.S. Attorney General, with impeachment and other penalties. They admit to lacking justification, as no impeachable offenses have been committed or even considered by those targeted in this unlawful procedure.” He emphasized, “This constitutes extortion at its highest, and accountability is necessary.”
Trump also highlighted threats against Republican donors, stating, “They are intimidating our donors, some of the most respected individuals globally, with imprisonment and various other punitive measures simply because they support the Republican Party. This represents a new level of Weaponization and Lawfare.”
As this situation unfolds, further updates will be provided.
