The court’s decision leaves Page without further legal options and confirms a lower court’s ruling that his claims were untimely. This decision also ends the case against former officials, including James Comey.
The justices released a brief, unsigned statement rejecting Page’s appeal. This preserves a federal appeals court finding that a three-year statute of limitations blocked his claims. Page contended the limitations period should begin in 2019, when a Justice Department inspector general highlighted significant issues in the FBI’s surveillance methods. He filed the lawsuit in 2020, yet the courts disagreed with his interpretation.
Justice Jackson did not take part in the case, with the Court giving no explanation for her recusal, following standard practice.
