A business jet crashed into a highway in Texas, resulting in a fire and the death of one individual, police reported. The incident occurred on Tuesday night as the plane carried six passengers.
The aircraft crashed on Loop 20 in Laredo, Texas, shortly after 10 p.m. An investigator with the Laredo Police Department, Jose Baeza, confirmed the crash and noted that a vehicle was hit by the plane. The identity of the deceased, whether they were on the aircraft or on the ground, was not immediately clear.

The condition of those aboard the plane was initially not disclosed. Although no severe injuries on the ground were reported at first, five officers responding to the scene were hospitalized due to smoke inhalation, according to Baeza.
Following the crash, Loop 20 was closed and anticipated to remain shut until Wednesday morning. According to data from FlightAware, the plane involved was a Cessna Citation Latitude twin jet. It departed from Los Cabos International Airport in Mexico at 6:19 p.m.
NetJets, the company owning the aircraft, confirmed that the crash involved their plane. They stated they are cooperating with authorities in the investigation.
The crash unfolded as the aircraft approached Laredo, approximately 140 miles southwest of San Antonio. Video shared on social media depicted the plane lying on its side, smashed into a highway barrier, with the tail severed from the fuselage.
