Helicopter Crash in Southeast Alaska
A Coast Guard helicopter crashed during a routine training flight in southeast Alaska, leaving four crew members injured. The incident occurred near Sitka, Alaska, in a sparsely populated area close to Harbor Mountain. The Coast Guard released details about the crash through a press release.
Watch standers at the Arctic District command center were alerted to the crash shortly after 10 a.m. According to officials, the MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter experienced issues leading to the crash. Sitka Fire and Rescue teams reached the site around 11 a.m., transporting the injured crew to Mt. Edgecumbe Medical Center for medical care.
Survival and Recovery
“We are incredibly relieved our crew members survived with only minor injuries,” stated Rear Adm. Bob Little, commander of the Coast Guard’s Arctic District.
Despite the seriousness of the crash, no fatalities were reported. The exact cause of the crash remains unknown, and an investigation is underway.

This incident is part of a series of aircraft accidents occurring recently.
