Former President Barack Obama humorously suggested that he occupies “a suite” in President Donald Trump’s mind. During the “All the Smoke” podcast with ex-NBA players Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson, Obama addressed the Trump administration’s ongoing preoccupation with him. He expressed concern that Trump might not be adequately focused on the American people.
Obama, when asked about the fascination with him and dealing with negativity, replied, “You got to ask him what it is that…the obsession. I obviously have a room in his head, a suite in his head.” Barnes chimed in, “Rent-free! You do everything with grace.” Obama remarked that during his presidency, he didn’t worry about his predecessor or others’ opinions because his focus was on essential tasks.
If you’re doing the job right, you’ve got five to 10 things that are real hard. The idea of worrying about the past is strange and indicates a lack of focus on American people,Obama noted.
In another part of the podcast, Obama commented on Trump’s different demeanor in private settings, stating, “He don’t talk like that because he knows better.” A White House spokesperson, Davis Ingle, responded to the podcast’s remarks by labeling Obama as a “divisive and destructive” president.
Obama has previously mentioned regularly thinking about challenging Trump but avoids direct comments, preferring not to act as a commentator. He shared in a New Yorker interview his reluctance to engage weekly in critiques similar to those by Jon Stewart. Lindsay Kornick reports this for Fox News Digital.
