Prince Harry Plans Solo Visit to London without Meghan and Children

Prince Harry will visit London next week without his wife Meghan and their children. A source informed AFP that Meghan, Archie, and Lilibet will not join him in London. This trip was initially anticipated to be their first family return to the U.K. in four years. Arrangements for the rest of the trip are still undecided. It’s uncertain if the family will all visit but stay outside London.

The visit is to initiate the countdown to the Invictus Games, founded by Harry in 2014 for wounded veterans. These games are scheduled for July 10 to 17, 2027. During his U.K. visit, Harry will also engage in activities with his charities.

According to The Sun, Harry and his family, currently in Europe, hope to undertake the U.K. trip “in some form.” The publication also stated that Harry and Meghan hoped to visit a London hospital together, marking her first engagement there since departing the U.K., but he will now attend alone due to security concerns. Last month, a source mentioned that Harry and his family intended to stay in royal residences, potentially as guests of King Charles III.

In a past comment to the BBC, Harry expressed concerns about his family’s safety in the U.K. after a failed court attempt to reinstate full police protection for his visits. “It’s impossible for me to take my family back to the U.K. safely,” he remarked then. Current security arrangements for his July visit are not specified, and the BBC indicated that Buckingham Palace has not offered extra security.

Harry and Meghan relocated to North America in 2020, stepping back from royal responsibilities amid a contentious split from the family. Tensions escalated following Harry’s memoir “Spare” and various legal issues in the U.K.

Harry expressed a desire to reconcile with King Charles III, though it’s unclear if a meeting is planned during this visit. Their last known encounter was a brief meeting in September 2025 at Clarence House, where the 77-year-old king, currently being treated for an undisclosed cancer, resides.
