Former NFL Player Marcellus Wiley Arrested on Domestic Battery Charges

Marcellus Wiley, an ex-NFL Pro Bowler and sports broadcaster, was arrested on charges of domestic battery by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. Court records confirmed the arrest, and Wiley is being held without bond. Details about the incident are scarce at this point.

Wiley’s arrest on the Fourth of July follows accusations of sexual assault from four women reported in a recent Rolling Stone article. Wiley, aged 51, has previously faced lawsuits from three women accusing him of rape during his time at Columbia University. He denied these allegations on his podcast, “More To It with Marcellus Wiley,” insisting he had evidence to refute what he termed “alleged misrepresentations.” He described the allegations at Columbia as “BS.”

Annemarie Wiley, Wiley’s wife, appeared on “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.” The Rolling Stone article highlighted accusations from two women claiming sexual assault by Wiley between 1995 and 1999.

Further allegations include a woman who claimed that Wiley began grooming her from age 13 during his tenure with the Buffalo Bills. She accuses Wiley of raping her when she was 18 in Dallas, where Wiley was then playing for the Cowboys. According to Rolling Stone, she alleged Wiley coordinated her flight to meet him.

“Marcellus Wiley raped me on my 18th birthday, after grooming me from the age of 13,” she wrote, noting Wiley’s nickname for her was ‘little momma.’ “If Columbia had properly pursued the complaints… I would never have been groomed and raped.”

A former ESPN production assistant claimed Wiley misled her under the guise of a work meeting, resulting in a sexual assault in 2009. Her statement for Rolling Stone expressed the lasting impact of the incident.

Wiley was drafted 52nd overall in the 1997 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills and spent four seasons with them. In 2001, he achieved a Pro Bowl selection with the San Diego Chargers, where he played for three years. Wiley also played for the Cowboys and Jacksonville Jaguars before retiring after the 2006 season.
