Tommy Dreamer Prepares for Epic Showdown at ACW Indypendence Day

Tommy Dreamer, a notable figure in professional wrestling, is ready to re-enter the Awesome Championship Wrestling (ACW) ring. He will face Josh Shernoff in a lumberjack match that includes tag teams The Now and Sent 2 Slaughter. The upcoming match follows a history of confrontations among these wrestlers.

In January, Shernoff secured a victory over Dreamer during the Poughkeepsie Rumble. Additionally, The Now and Sent 2 Slaughter clashed in a steel cage match at Reckoning in May. Shernoff prompted the clash at ACW’s Indypendence Day event, scheduled for Saturday. This tense rivalry between the groups is expected to result in an intense and possibly violent encounter.

“People try to make a name for themselves in this industry,” Dreamer stated in an interview with Fox News Digital. “I wasn’t aware Shernoff was a wrestler too. It’s embarrassing to lose control and then not know what happened.”

Dreamer acknowledged that Shernoff manipulated his absence to gain an advantage. However, he emphasized that he’s now ready to confront Shernoff. Dreamer plans to employ the same classic wrestling techniques that made him famous, particularly in his familiar environment.

During a previous event at Reckoning, Shawn Donovan and Danny Maff attacked Vik Dalishus within the steel cage while Hale Collins was restrained outside the ring. Dalishus’ wife intervened, trying to halt the chaos. Dalishus needed hospitalization following the incident.

Dreamer reflected, “They showed up at someone’s wedding. They’re doing things beyond wrestling. We wrestlers face danger without fear, but there’s a responsibility to others.” He shared a personal account of how witnessing violence affected family members, emphasizing the real-life repercussions.

The anticipated match on Saturday represents another chapter in this ongoing saga. Dreamer expressed excitement about performing again at the MJN Center in Poughkeepsie, New York. “I’ve been wrestling for 37 years. It’s an honor to step into the ring,” Dreamer told Fox News Digital. “I’ve had the privilege to wrestle legends and see wrestling evolve in that venue.”

Dreamer fondly recalled his experiences with renowned wrestlers and noted personal hardships he faced in the same arena. He recounted an incident where he broke his neck and back during a pay-per-view event. Despite these challenges, he remains dedicated to wrestling and the community.

The local support for ACW, especially post-COVID, has been significant. Dreamer highlighted the affordability and entertainment value of ACW events, which have reignited the wrestling scene in the Mid-Hudson area.

The ACW Indypendence Day event is set for Saturday at 6:30 p.m. ET. It promises to be an exciting night for wrestling enthusiasts.
