California Man’s Alleged Drug Stash Discovered in Rideshare

A California man left behind a backpack with a large amount of suspected methamphetamine in a rideshare vehicle. The San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) reported the incident in a news release.

Authorities recovered approximately 355.7 grams of meth, valued over $30,000, according to Recovered, which mentions typical prices reaching up to $100 per gram.

The suspect’s rideshare journey unexpectedly led to the discovery of a bag with more than 300 grams of methamphetamine, explained the SFPD.

The event took place near the Tenderloin neighborhood in San Francisco, known for drug activity, homelessness, and crime.

Police named the suspect as 41-year-old Jessie Ottman-Comb from Sacramento. They coordinated with the rideshare driver to return the backpack, which led them to Ottman-Comb’s motel.

During the search of his motel room, officers found two cellphones, two tablets, and drug paraphernalia. All the items, along with the methamphetamine from the vehicle, were seized.

Ottman-Comb was booked into the San Francisco County Jail, facing charges of possessing methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, as well as transporting or selling methamphetamine.

The police investigation continues.
