Two 15-year-old girls sustained injuries in a collision between an e-bike and an SUV on Tuesday night in Libertyville. The incident took place at the intersection of Milwaukee Avenue and Winchester Road at 9:08 p.m.
According to a news release, paramedics responded to reports of a crash involving the vehicle and an e-bike. The police stated that a Chevrolet Blazer was heading north on Milwaukee Avenue and continued through the intersection at Winchester Road during a green light.
The Blazer collided with an e-bike ridden by two girls as they crossed Milwaukee Avenue just north of the intersection. Following the accident, both girls were taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.
One girl was later transferred to Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago, where she is being treated for life-threatening injuries. The other girl remains at Condell with injuries deemed non-life-threatening.
The driver of the Chevrolet Blazer escaped unscathed, and the police have confirmed that the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
