ICE Law Enforcement Officer Gregory Simmons recounted a dramatic rescue in Pasco County, Florida. He saved a 6-year-old child from drowning in a pool. Simmons’ swift action in performing CPR revived the unconscious child. This act demonstrates the dedication of law enforcement officers, both on and off duty.
In a separate incident in Tennessee, a woman faced arrest for attempting to drown her child. Mikaylee Rae Beirne, aged 31, was arrested by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. She faced charges of aggravated child abuse and neglect after a July 15 event.
According to Sheriff Keith Sexton, deputies responded around 5 p.m. to a home on Cochran Road. Witnesses said Beirne was in the pool with several children while another adult was indoors. One child rushed in to alert the adult that Beirne was allegedly forcing another child underwater.
The adult intervened, demanding Beirne release the child, to no avail. The adult then removed Beirne and assisted the child from the pool. Another adult arrived, briefly interacted with Beirne, and deputies were called. Beirne left the scene before their arrival.
Emergency personnel were contacted, and the child received minor injuries and bruising. Authorities soon located Beirne and took her into custody. She remains held at Washington County Detention Center with a bond of $50,000.
