San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan was recently involved in a significant car accident, as announced by the team on Saturday. He sustained multiple injuries, including a broken nose, three fractured ribs, a broken hand, and severe facial injuries requiring over 40 stitches. Additionally, Shanahan suffered a concussion.
According to ESPN, despite the severity of his injuries, they are not life-threatening. Shanahan will engage in team activities on a restricted basis at the beginning of training camp as he recuperates. The 49ers expressed their gratitude toward the first responders for their assistance and care in a statement.
“San Francisco 49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan was involved in a car accident last week where he suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Coach Shanahan will participate in team activities on a limited basis at the start of training camp while he recovers. Coach Shanahan and the 49ers organization would like to sincerely thank all first responders involved for their efforts and care.”
During Shanahan’s recovery, Assistant Head Coach Chris Foerster, along with team coordinators, will manage coaching responsibilities.
