5-Year-Old Injured in Chicago Drive-By Shooting

A young boy, aged five, sustained critical injuries during a drive-by shooting on the Near West Side in Chicago’s Little Italy/UIC neighborhood. According to police, this incident occurred shortly after 12:30 a.m.

The attacker fired from a black SUV that approached a large group gathered in the 1000 block of West 14th Place. The boy was hit in the abdomen and taken to Stroger Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

A 39-year-old man was also injured in the shooting, suffering a wound to his buttocks. He was treated at the same hospital and is in good condition.

The suspect’s vehicle sped away heading south on Morgan Street. At present, no arrests have been made, and police continue their investigation into the shooting.
