David Jonsson is set to take on the iconic role of the Black Panther in the upcoming film, ‘Black Panther 3.’ Director Ryan Coogler announced Jonsson’s casting during Marvel’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con. The film will feature Jonsson as T’Challa’s son, Prince T’Challa II, and is slated for release on December 15, 2028. Coogler will return as the director for this installment.
Jonsson expressed his excitement on stage, stating, ‘Thank you to this amazing family that I have the honor and the privilege and the blessing to join.’ He opted to keep further details under wraps, inviting audiences to experience the story through the film.
The first Black Panther film saw Chadwick Boseman in the role of T’Challa. After his passing in 2020 due to colon cancer, Letitia Wright, portraying T’Challa’s sister Shuri, carried part of his legacy in ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.’
The introduction of Prince T’Challa II in the second movie leads to significant developments in the third installment. Jonsson, known for his performances in ‘Stephen King’s The Long Walk,’ ‘Alien: Romulus,’ and ‘Industry,’ steps into this pivotal role, signaling a new era for the franchise.
