A tragic incident claimed the life of Victoria Zardoya, a 20-year-old woman from New Jersey, while she was on vacation in Florida. On a trip with friends to explore historic ruins, reports confirmed that she fell while visiting Fort Dade on Egmont Key, Florida, last Friday.
Egmont Key, situated at the entrance of Tampa Bay, is accessible only by boat, making the location quite remote. Zardoya was closely associated with Milania Guidice, daughter of Teresa Guidice from the “Real Housewives of New Jersey” fame. Her passing has sparked an outpouring of tributes and condolences across social media, as highlighted by E! News.
Victoria Silberbusch, a friend of Zardoya, detailed the incident on social media. She stated that Zardoya fell from the ruins while their group was on a boating tour around the island. Despite the island’s isolation, the friends immediately sought assistance by contact emergency services and sending flares from their boats.
Emergency responders, including paramedics, arrived via boat, and a medical helicopter transported Zardoya to a nearby hospital. Sadly, she died two days later due to the injuries sustained in the fall.
Silberbusch emphasized, “Victoria was never alone. From the moment she fell, every person there did everything within their power to help her.” The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office records show they responded to the incident at about 5 p.m. on Friday and cleared the scene by 11:16 p.m.
The incident prompts a renewed awareness of safety in outdoor and island tours, emphasizing the need for caution when visiting remote locations known for their historic remnants like Fort Dade on Egmont Key.
