Jared Leto Faces Serious Allegations in New Documentary

1 week ago 0

Singer and actor Jared Leto is facing allegations of criminal sexual misconduct from four women. These claims are outlined in the BBC documentary, Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret. One woman alleged Leto sexually assaulted her at a motel when she was 17. Another woman reported having sex with Leto in California at the same age, where the legal consent age is 18. When the issue of her age surfaced, Leto allegedly brushed off the concern.

The documentary details a third accusation, where a woman claimed Leto threatened her with sexual assault at 19 after she was alone with him in a hotel room. A fourth woman stated Leto groomed her at 16, allegedly using his celebrity status to make explicit calls and suggest sexual activity. The BBC documentary includes interviews with ten women, of whom nine are speaking out publicly for the first time.

The allegations span from 2002 to 2016, a period when Leto was in his 30s and 40s. The BBC backed some women’s accounts through friends and family who were aware of the incidents at the time. One interviewee, identified as Isabel, mentioned meeting Leto at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas in 2002, at the age of 17. She recalled meeting him at what she thought was his hotel, which turned out to be a “dingy motel.” Isabel admitted blaming herself at the time but later came to see the encounter differently.

The documentary also features accounts of interactions with Leto at concerts, parties, and industry events over several years. Many women only later reevaluated these experiences as adults.

Background on Jared Leto

Leto gained fame as an actor in the 1990s and received an Academy Award in 2014 for his role in Dallas Buyers Club. He has appeared in films like Fight Club, Blade Runner 2049, and Suicide Squad. Beyond acting, Leto is the lead singer of the band Thirty Seconds to Mars, which he started with his brother in 1998. The band plans to tour the U.K. and Europe next year.

Long-Standing Allegations

Concerns about Leto’s behavior with young women have existed for years. The BBC’s investigation found over 120 allegations online about his conduct, some dating back to the early 2000s. In 2005, the New York Post reported allegations of Leto approaching young girls at a hotel in New York. A 2025 Air Mail investigation further spotlighted allegations of impropriety involving teenagers, which Leto denied through a representative.

Accounts from Former Crew Members

The documentary includes testimony from two former crew members of Thirty Seconds to Mars. These individuals expressed unease about the young age of women interacting with the band. One crew member, “Simon,” noted Leto’s frequent communications with young women during recording sessions, recalling instances of women visiting their work locations.

Simon recounted an instance involving a girl who appeared “very young looking,” dropped off by her parents and later picked up after spending time with Leto. He described the atmosphere as one of “shame and embarrassment.” Another former crew member, “Brad,” noted that female models receiving VIP tickets during tours were directly requested by Leto. The age gap was a source of discomfort among the crew.

Simon shared that recent public allegations felt “uncanny” in their resemblance to his experiences working with the band, finding them both “upsetting” and “disturbing.”

Leto’s Absence from Film Promotion

Despite a significant role in Masters of the Universe released earlier this year, Leto was noticeably absent from much of its promotional efforts. This contrasted with his high-profile status as an Oscar-winning actor and band frontman.
