According to reports, an uncontained fire in southwestern France has reached an area nearly four times the size of Paris. This fire is separate from the one threatening Brignoles, which has led to the evacuation of about 3,000 people. The Associated Press notes that fires are also causing havoc in other parts of southern Europe. Tragically, three firefighters have died in Greece while combating extreme conditions.

Across France and Spain, the evacuation numbers have surpassed 300,000, affecting both residents and tourists. Temperatures in France’s Gironde region have soared to almost 104 degrees, exacerbating the fire situation. The region witnessed the evacuation of around 220,000 individuals. Although many have started returning home, tens of thousands remain displaced.
