This moment occurred while he and his father were being detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Columbia Heights, Minnesota.
The event and image have sparked various public reactions. The photograph gained traction across social media as it highlighted contentious immigration policies. Public demonstrations also took place, including a protest targeting the South Texas Family Residential Center in Dilley, Texas, where Liam was held on January 28.
