Massive Federal Job Cuts During Trump’s Administration

President Donald Trump, after assuming office again in January 2025, made a commitment to reduce unnecessary expenditures within Washington, D.C. His goal was to streamline the federal bureaucracy significantly.

Through various efforts, his administration achieved a notable reduction in federal jobs, with nearly 400,000 positions eliminated. This impact was felt beyond Washington, D.C., reaching rural states as well.

A case in point is Texas. In September 2024, at the IRS processing facility located in Austin, employees were actively sorting and processing mail. Federal data indicates that since Trump’s return to office, over 2,000 employees from the Texas Treasury Department have lost their jobs. This figure represents more than 20% of the workforce in the state.

This sweeping reduction reflects Trump’s dedication to cutting administrative bloat across the nation, affecting various sectors and states significantly along the way.
