Incident at Las Vegas Aces Game Leads to Fans Being Escorted Out

During the third quarter of Thursday night’s game between the Las Vegas Aces and the Indiana Fever, an incident led to two men being escorted from the stands by security. The interruption occurred with 4:38 left in the quarter after Jackie Young from the Aces pointed out the fans to a referee.

The game paused as Young communicated with the referee, gesturing towards the spectators and requesting ‘security’ several times. Initially, a woman seated in the front row opposite the Aces’ bench was taken away but returned later. The focus then shifted to two men seated nearby, who were led out of the arena.

After the Aces’ 86-84 overtime victory, Young addressed the situation, explaining that one of the men had been making comments throughout the game. At one point, the remarks crossed a line. ‘He was just chirping all game,’ Young told reporters. ‘I let him have it, and then he just made one that was too far.’

She chose not to reveal the exact words said by the fan, mentioning, ‘I think we’ll just keep it in here.’

Although the fans were escorted from their seats, a subsequent statement revealed that the Fever concluded there was ‘no code violation.’ The fan opted to leave voluntarily. ‘Following a report of a comment directed toward a player, arena security spoke with the fan involved and witnesses. Security found no violation of the Fan Code of Conduct; the fan was not removed from the arena but elected to leave. We consider the matter closed,’ the statement noted.

Unfortunately, the incident took away attention from the fantastic basketball game.

The game extended into overtime, with Chelsea Gray’s buzzer-beating 3-pointer ensuring the extra period. Gray then scored another buzzer-beating 3-pointer to secure the Aces’ win over Indiana, 86-84.

Young completed the match with 22 points, nine assists, four rebounds, and five fouls during the thrilling overtime game.

After the victory, Young expressed her views on how fans should conduct themselves at sports events. ‘They did the right thing. Obviously, we don’t want to see fans get kicked out, but at the end of the day, we’re human too. So let’s just show up to games, have fun, and not take it too far,’ she stated postgame.
