Search Continues for North Carolina Woman Missing in Grenada

A North Carolina woman named Elizabeth “Liz” Waddell, aged 43, disappeared during a vacation in Grenada on July 22. Her husband, Cailen Waddell, believes she may have drowned. Liz was last seen in the water by jet skiers who reportedly attempted to persuade her to join them on a jet ski rather than stay in the ocean. She declined, assuring them that she was a good swimmer and gave a thumbs up.

Details about the case have been shared on a website created by her family, FindLiz.com. The conversation with the jet skiers allegedly took place around 5:30 p.m. on the day she was reported missing to the Royal Grenada Police Force.

Surveillance footage from an Airbnb near the area shows someone resembling Liz Waddell walking near a pool, holding a towel, and later jumping into the water off a dock, disappearing from the frame. These visuals were captured around the time of her disappearance.

A week after arriving in Grenada to aid search efforts, Cailen returned to the United States without success. Despite searches using drones, dive teams, and dogs, no trace of Liz has been found. Police continue to treat her case as a missing person situation.

Cailen has expressed his grief over her absence and hopes the investigation will provide more clarity. Though the search has been fruitless so far, he holds on to the hope that she might still be found.
