Angel Reese, Atlanta Dream’s All-Star forward, is making a significant impact on the basketball court this season. Despite media attention on Sophie Cunningham and the Indiana Fever, Reese has quietly excelled. On Monday night, the Dream, with a record of 20-12, decisively defeated the Toronto Tempo, who stand at 10-22. Reese contributed 20 points with a 50% field goal rate and secured 14 rebounds. This performance marked her 22nd double-double of the 2026 WNBA season. By achieving this, she surpassed the Dream’s all-time record for double-doubles in a single season.
“She IS the Double-Diva,” declared the Dream on X. “She IS at the top of her game. And she IS etched into Atlanta Dream history with the most double-doubles in a single season.”
With 12 games remaining in the regular season, Reese has ample opportunity to extend her record further. She has achieved double-doubles in five of her last six games. Her consistent performance positions her well to challenge Alyssa Thomas’ WNBA record for the most double-doubles in a season.
Currently, Reese averages 15.8 points, 11.9 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.7 steals per game. Her rebounding skills are unmatched in the league, leading with 11.9 rebounds per game. If she maintains this momentum, Reese will clinch her third consecutive rebounds title in the WNBA.
Since her trade from the Chicago Sky to Atlanta in April, Reese has emphasized her primary focus: winning a championship. The Dream, with their strong performance, are set for a playoff appearance, providing Reese her first chance to experience WNBA playoff basketball since being the seventh overall pick in 2024.
This week, the Dream will travel to face the Connecticut Sun on Thursday, followed by a home game against the Indiana Fever on Sunday.
