Andy Cohen Addresses Criticism Over Political Diversity on ‘The Real Housewives’

Bravo’s Andy Cohen responded to criticism surrounding ‘The Real Housewives’ series having what some call ‘MAGA women.’ Cohen, a familiar face on ‘Watch What Happens Live,’ engaged with users on his Threads account during a flight. He addressed concerns about too many MAGA women on ‘The Real Housewives of Orange County,’ explaining that the show focuses on diverse perspectives and relationships rather than politics.

“If we didn’t showcase people with different points of view, there would be no show. It’s about the women and their relationships, not about politics,” Cohen stated. Fox News Digital contacted NBCUniversal, Bravo TV’s parent company, but received no immediate response.

Former ‘Real Housewives’ members have mentioned facing backlash for conservative opinions. Kelly Dodd, once part of ‘The Real Housewives of Orange County,’ was fired for controversial COVID-19 comments and criticisms of the Black Lives Matter movement. She discussed feeling like a cancel culture victim on Jamie Kennedy’s podcast, expressing a sense of political discrimination.

Another former cast member, Annemarie Wiley from ‘The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,’ spoke to Fox News Digital about being sidelined due to conservative views, including support for protecting girls’ sports. She elaborated on receiving a negative edit from Bravo after the season finished, attributing it to her conservative stance.

Wiley expressed that her political involvement arose from her show experience. “I was very apolitical. I grew up in Canada as a Democrat. My show experience made me evaluate the political positions,” Wiley said.

Jill Zarin, of ‘The Real Housewives of New York,’ voiced criticism towards her Hollywood peers for not supporting hostages during the Israel-Hamas conflict. “I’m sorry that Hollywood can’t even support bringing hostages home,” Zarin commented.
