New Era for Jets: Inside the Expanded Training Facility

6 hours ago 0

The New York Jets are investing significantly in their Player Performance Center, with plans to more than double its size for the upcoming season. Jets owner Woody Johnson aims to enhance training capacity and centralize key areas like strength, conditioning, recovery, and nutrition.

Innovative Facilities

Jets owner Woody Johnson stated, “We are investing in an exceptionally dynamic, innovative training staff with experience designing advanced performance systems to support our players.” The new facility will be 250% larger and equipped with state-of-the-art tools and technology.

Key features of the upgraded center include:

  • Vibroacoustic recovery pods
  • Multimodal wellness chambers
  • Pneumatic resistance equipment
  • Computer-vision tracking
  • AI-powered player performance app

Director of Player Performance Erik Korem emphasized a holistic approach, integrating strength, nutrition, sports science, and recovery.

Phase 2 Renovations

The expansion at the Atlantic Health Jets Training Center is not just a physical upgrade. It restructures training processes, merging assessment, practice, and recovery into one fluid cycle. The new two-story performance center’s priorities include player performance, recovery, and daily operational efficiency.

Construction affects the current roster as players train in a temporary facility 70% larger than the previous weight room. Equipment and technology upgrades are already in use, maintaining player readiness.

Personalized Training Programs

The center promises personalized training for players. Understanding different player roles and physical demands, Korem aims to offer precise assessments and interventions. A custom app organizes data to provide individualized recommendations.

The Jets adopt advanced analytics and AI technology to enhance human performance. Computer vision and resistance systems, coupled with velocity-based training, refine practice and readiness assessments.

Focus on Nutrition

Under Nutrition Director Carmen Spencer, the nutrition approach is intricate. The team offers a variety of proteins, carbohydrates, and other nutrients tailored to player needs. This aligns with the Jets’ whole philosophy of performance and recovery.

Recent improvements follow a 2025 report card where the team received low ratings for their facilities. Previous upgrades include a redesigned locker room and improved wet areas.

Practice as Core Development

Despite technology, practice remains the focus for real player development. Training at camp prepares players for intense game demands. The weight room supports players by enhancing strength and agility.

Korem highlights the guidance and investment from Woody Johnson in both technology and expert practitioners. This ambitious project aims to foster better information sharing and decision-making for player development.
