Democrats in Vermont are in the process of selecting a candidate to oppose incumbent Governor Phil Scott in the upcoming November election. The Republican governor has held office for almost ten years. Vermont governors are elected to two-year terms and face no term limits, allowing Scott to seek reelection.
In the Democratic primary, two newcomers have stepped forward: Amanda Janoo, an economist, and Aly Richards, who previously led a child care advocacy organization as CEO. Both candidates aim to challenge Scott’s hold on the governorship.
