Teens Charged with Trespassing at Shuttered Congress Theater

2 hours ago 0

Sixteen teenagers were charged with trespassing after being arrested at the closed Congress Theater in Logan Square, Chicago. This arrest follows a recent unsanctioned rave at the theater that police shut down nearly a week earlier.

Two of the teens also faced additional charges for possession of replica firearms. The arrests took place around 8:15 p.m. The police responded to a report of criminal trespassing. While several teenagers tried to escape, officers successfully apprehended them.

Previously, the theater hosted a rave organized by DJ Kula, a prominent figure in underground music events. Kula is known for holding unsanctioned parties in various locations in Chicago, including the Jackson Red Line station and the former Portage Theater. The Logan Square event drew hundreds of attendees.

The Congress Theater has become a popular destination for ‘urban explorers’. Many social media users share photos and videos of their adventures inside its decaying halls.
