Judge Delays State Murder Trial for Luigi Mangione

44 minutes ago 0

Judge Gregory Carro has postponed the state murder trial of Luigi Mangione. The delay allows time to deliberate on whether state charges should be dismissed, given Mangione’s guilty plea in federal court for stalking.

On Monday, the judge instructed prosecutors to respond by October 9 to the defense’s motion seeking dismissal of the state charges. These developments unfolded during a pre-trial hearing held at Manhattan Criminal Court on August 11.

Mangione admitted to federal stalking charges related to the death of Brian Thompson, the CEO of UnitedHealthcare. The plea has prompted questions about the appropriateness of pursuing state charges concurrently.
