Justice Demanded for Stabbed Detective
Retired NYPD Sgt. Joseph Imperatrice calls for justice for Detective Jose Mercedes, who was wounded by two individuals accused of a stabbing. Both suspects, identified as illegal immigrants, will face arraignment in the Bronx. Imperatrice, founder of Blue Lives Matter-NYC, highlights the increasing hostility faced by law enforcement. He urges officials to enhance protection for police officers.
Incident Involving Honduran National
In a separate case, Federal authorities report that Reinieri De Jesus Licona Amador, a Honduran national allegedly in the U.S. unlawfully, attacked ICE officers with a hammer during a traffic stop in New Jersey. Licona Amador, 27, has been charged with assaulting federal officers and appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Elizabeth A. Pascal in Camden federal court. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Jersey reports his appearance.
Federal officers risk themselves to enforce the law and protect the public. Attacking an officer with a hammer during a traffic stop threatens officer safety and the rule of law. We will hold those accountable for violent acts against federal officers, said U.S. Attorney Robert Frazer.
Allegations Against Licona Amador
Federal prosecutors claim that during an attempted arrest in Gibbsboro, New Jersey, Licona Amador climbed onto his truck’s passenger-side door and swung a hammer at officers. The incident unfolded when ICE officers conducted a license plate check on a truck, which led them to discover Licona Amador’s unlawful status in the U.S. Officers subsequently pulled him over.
The criminal complaint reveals that when officers approached Licona Amador’s truck, he reached for a hammer. Despite commands to stop, he allegedly resisted efforts to remove him and climbed to the passenger side. Officers deployed pepper spray and subdued him without injury. Licona Amador faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine if convicted.
