52 minutes ago 0

Young America’s Foundation (YAF) has teamed up with the ‘Reagan’ movie to feature sets and props from the film at a new museum in Dixon, Illinois. This initiative aligns with YAF’s management of Reagan’s Boyhood Home in Dixon and the Reagan Ranch in Santa Barbara, California.

The museum will showcase a full-scale replica of the Oval Office, the Situation Room, and other significant locations from President Reagan’s life depicted in the movie. Hundreds of artifacts from the film will be displayed. The museum is expected to open in 2028.

Scott Walker, YAF President and former Wisconsin Governor, expressed the importance of educating students and families about Reagan’s life. He emphasized how the movie museum will enhance understanding of Reagan’s impact as an actor-turned-president. Walker mentioned the influence of Reagan’s early life in the Midwest on his public career.

Walker noted that linking the movie sets with virtual and multimedia elements will help visitors connect with Reagan and his ideas. Walker highlighted Reagan’s role in ending communism, boosting patriotism, and revitalizing America’s economy.

Producer Mark Joseph noted how YAF’s efforts have preserved Reagan’s legacy. The museum in Dixon will allow visitors to experience Reagan’s early life and enjoy the movie’s sets.

This will be a place where fans of the movie can gather and enjoy the sets that our team worked so hard to build.

Dixon’s premiere of ‘Reagan’ in 2024 saw widespread community attendance, with actor Dennis Quaid participating. Quaid appreciated the connection with the locals, emphasizing how Hollywood often overlooks small towns.

Walker expects strong turnout for the museum due to the community’s enthusiasm during the premiere. Quaid’s involvement illustrated his connection with Reagan’s role and the town of Dixon.

Walker shared details about Reagan’s humble beginnings. Reagan’s family encountered financial difficulties due to his father’s alcoholism, but his mother supported them through odd jobs and philanthropy. Reagan’s upbringing serves as a reminder to students about achieving the American Dream without privilege or wealth.

The announcement coincides with the release of the director’s cut of ‘Reagan,’ featuring additional footage on September 25. While critics gave the original film a low score, audiences rated it highly, which Walker attributes to critics’ elitism.

Overall, YAF continues to honor Reagan’s legacy through preservation and education, ensuring future generations understand his story and impact.
