Kayleigh McEnany Criticizes Birthright Citizenship Ruling; Kacey Musgraves Advocates for Immigrant Children’s Rights

Kayleigh McEnany’s Reaction to Supreme Court Ruling

Fox News co-host Kayleigh McEnany strongly disagrees with the Supreme Court’s decision on birthright citizenship, calling it a “travesty.” Her comments reflect concerns about “birth tourism” where individuals from countries like China allegedly use this ruling to gain U.S. citizenship for their children. McEnany argues this was not the founders’ intention.

Kacey Musgraves Supports Immigrant Children’s Rights

During her “Middle of Nowhere” tour, country singer Kacey Musgraves paused her Chicago performance to request donations for the Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights. She shared her birthday wish, emphasizing that the nonprofit helps children whose parents faced deportation. “It’s not a political thing. It’s just, these kids need help,” Musgraves stated.

The Young Center, based in Chicago, pairs volunteers with attorneys and social workers to advocate for immigrant children in custody. Their priorities include family unity, release from custody, fair proceedings, and children’s best interests. In 2024, the nonprofit assisted 1,975 children from 53 countries and opened 1,388 cases. Their 2025 report revealed increased detention times and quadrupled requests for help from detained parents.

Additional Support Initiatives

Musgraves continues her support for the Young Center through various initiatives. In April, a resale platform sold clothing from her wardrobe, with proceeds benefiting the nonprofit. Additionally, she invited three brothers to perform at Texas shows after their release from ICE custody. This family sought asylum in 2023 after fleeing violence in Mexico.

However, DHS stated the family entered illegally and was released by the Biden administration. Federal law, according to DHS, requires detention for individuals without valid entry until their claims are heard.

Record Levels of Enforcement

Musgraves’ comments come amid record ICE enforcement levels. Sources indicate approximately 51,000 immigration arrests took place in July, surpassing the previous record of 43,000 in June. DHS highlights the ongoing efforts of ICE in arresting and deporting dangerous criminals.

The Chicago concert marks the start of Musgraves’ North American arena tour. Tour dates are scheduled through October, with Midland as the opening act.
