White House border official Tom Homan has firmly dismissed Florida candidate Angie Nixon’s assertions that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) racially profiles Black Americans. In a conversation with Kayleigh McEnany, Homan described Nixon’s claims as ‘ridiculous’ and defended the integrity of law enforcement officers. He also warned about the dangers of sanctuary city policies, which he claims allow dangerous illegal aliens to re-enter society.

Homan’s Defense of ICE Practices

During an appearance on ‘Saturday in America,’ Homan emphatically stated that ICE does not arrest individuals based on race. ‘I’m an equal opportunity deporter,’ he remarked, emphasizing his agency’s objective of deporting people from 180 countries the previous year. Homan made it clear that regardless of nationality, illegal immigrants face deportation.

Nixon’s Podcast Criticism

On the podcast ‘QNA: Questions Need Answers,’ Nixon accused Republicans of targeting the Black community and described ICE as a ‘weaponized paramilitary force.’ Homan countered these statements by maintaining that ICE operates within the law and needs reasonable suspicion and probable cause to make arrests.

Impacts of Sanctuary Policies

Homan criticized sanctuary policies, citing incidents like the fatal shooting of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo during an enforcement operation in Houston. He argued that these policies complicate immigration enforcement, forcing officers into riskier public arrests and inadvertently threatening public safety.
