It’s been nearly three months since the blockbuster trade, and Myles Garrett is yet to appear in a Los Angeles Rams uniform. The star player has missed both of the Rams’ first two preseason games, along with twelve practices due to knee swelling and soreness. Initially perceived as non-threatening during the early days of training camp, concerns are emerging as Week 1 approaches.
Head coach Sean McVay, however, remains composed. On Tuesday, he assured fans that Garrett’s absence is merely a precaution. “The goal is, what can we do to be able to get him ready to roll for Australia?” McVay commented.
The Rams begin their regular season against the 49ers in Melbourne, Australia, on Thursday, Sept. 10. This showdown marks the first-ever NFL game in Australia, an exciting contest between two potential Super Bowl contenders.
McVay emphasized that their priority is ensuring Garrett’s readiness for the regular season, not risking him in preseason action.
With stars like reigning MVP Matthew Stafford, elite receivers Puka Nacua and Davante Adams, and All-Pro running back Kyren Williams, the Rams were considered top contenders even before Garrett’s acquisition. His addition, as a two-time Defensive Player of the Year and legendary pass rusher, boosts an already formidable front seven featuring players like Kobie Turner, Byron Young, and Braden Fiske.
Provided Garrett’s injury remains minor, the Rams pose a significant threat to opponents this season. Their lineup might be further bolstered if franchise legend Aaron Donald makes a return.
