Shrinking Glaciers and Swelling Rivers: A Harsh Reality

1 hour ago 0

Satellite images have revealed significant changes in a glacier and a nearby river in Nepal. These images highlight the continuing threats posed by climate change.

Recently, the Trishuli River in Nepal’s Nuwakot district saw devastating flash floods. A house perched on the riverbank is now at risk, surrounded by rising waters and debris.

Reports indicate that more than 170 individuals lost their lives due to these floods in Nepal and China. Geoscientists, through rapid analysis, suggest that a landslide from a collapsing glacier triggered the floodwaters. This serves as a warning of the threats from melting glaciers in a warming world.
