Former Disney Channel Star Alleges Abuse and Negligence

A former Disney Channel actress, Raquel Lee Bolleau, has filed a serious lawsuit against The Walt Disney Company. She claims that as a 14-year-old during the filming of the 2001 movie “The Poof Point,” she faced sexual abuse from an adult male employee.

Allegations of Abuse

Bolleau alleges that Disney staff encouraged her to “bond” with the employee who allegedly abused her. During the movie’s production, she states the man provided her with alcohol and sexually assaulted her several times. In the lawsuit, it is detailed that the employee told her she was “old enough” to handle the situation after his actions.

In the complaint, Bolleau mentions returning to the set displaying signs of distress, such as smelling of alcohol and vomiting. She claims that instead of investigating, Disney executives labeled her as “out of control” and her behavior as disrupting the movie’s progress. Moreover, she recounts an encounter with a resident Disney executive producer who allegedly made religious judgments about her character. According to her, there were violations of California’s child-performer protection laws, which require a guardian to be within sight or sound of the minor on set.

Bolleau was often separated from her guardian and left unsupervised, giving the alleged abuser access to her.

The lawsuit also claims that the abuse continued after filming. On a flight back to California, Bolleau alleges she was placed next to the employee in first class where another assault occurred. Despite the visible signs and warnings, Disney executives allegedly blamed Bolleau for the negative shifts in her behavior rather than probing into the matter.
