Park officials have confirmed a second fatality in the aftermath of flash floods that struck Grand Canyon National Park. The weekend’s heavy rain inundated an area frequented by hikers and campers.
As of Monday, over a dozen individuals remain missing, according to the National Park Service. The search operations are focused on Bright Angel Creek, which stretches from the canyon’s north rim to the Colorado River.
The Park Service cautioned that the forecasted rain and thunderstorms on Monday may impede ongoing search and recovery efforts.
On Sunday, officials reported locating the body of a 46-year-old man near Crystal Rapids on the Colorado River. No further information has been provided regarding the second victim.
