Lionel Richie was hospitalized on Monday in St. Louis after performing at The Muny in Forest Park over the weekend. Details about the hospitalization remain unclear. At 77, Richie has faced several health challenges this summer, leading to concert cancellations.

Richie recently reassured fans about his health. In July, he posted online, “Thank you for every message, every kind word, and for all your love. I’m doing well, and I’m grateful for all of you.” His tour schedule faced disruption when he felt “dizzy” during the tour’s opening show in Minnesota.

The United Center announced the cancellation of scheduled concerts in Chicago and Columbus, Ohio, based on doctors’ advice. “Under advisement by doctors to rest and return to full health, Lionel Richie has postponed his next two shows,” read part of an Instagram post. Richie expressed his disappointment about the postponements but looked forward to returning to the stage.

A St. Paul Fire Department official confirmed to Fox News Digital that someone was transported from the Grand Casino Arena to a hospital on June 24, 2026. During his performance at the venue, Richie felt unwell. An hour into the show, fans noticed him taking a seat on stage. He lightheartedly addressed the crowd about feeling lightheaded.

Richie is in his ninth season as a judge on “American Idol.” Past performances brought excitement and energy, including his classic “Dancing on the Ceiling.” Attendees observed him pausing during the song to ensure his well-being. Richie acknowledged the situation with humor, advising the audience on handling dizziness.
