The United States Coast Guard (USCG) reported that a 15-year-old boater was the only survivor found after three individuals went missing earlier this week. The incident occurred off the coast of Alaska.

Rescue teams located the teenager clinging to the capsized vessel on Monday. The Coast Guard stated that the survivor was experiencing a medical emergency at the time of rescue.

The survivor was rescued from the overturned skiff experiencing symptoms of hypothermia, officials confirmed.

Two deceased mariners were discovered after the 18-foot fishing vessel they were in overturned approximately 4 miles east of St. Lawrence Island.

The search began early Monday when Alaska State Troopers informed the Coast Guard of a delayed boat return on Sunday evening. The vessel was expected back at 3 a.m. Sunday.

Crews could not deploy a rescue mission until Monday morning due to adverse weather and poor visibility.

A nearby vessel, operated by a good Samaritan, assisted by rescuing the teenager and retrieving the bodies of the deceased mariners from the water.

The survivors and the deceased were transported to Nome, Alaska, officials said.
