Police-Involved Shooting in Downtown Minneapolis Leaves Multiple Injured

KSTP-TV in St. Paul reported that several civilians were killed. At least six people were injured, including two Minneapolis police officers. According to the station, one officer was hit in the stomach, while another suffered a leg wound. As of 5:39 p.m. local time, one of the injured officers was in surgery. The other officer’s injuries were not life-threatening. By 6 p.m. local time, officials had not confirmed the fatalities or the victims’ conditions.

Video on social media showed heavily armed police aiming rifles toward an apartment tower near the Minneapolis Convention Center. Authorities advised residents to avoid the Loring Park neighborhood during the active response in this densely populated area.

Federal and State Officials React

FBI Director Kash Patel posted on X, announcing that the FBI is aware of the Minneapolis shooting involving law enforcement. The FBI will provide resources to assist local authorities.

The ATF in St. Paul also posted on X. They noted that ATF special agents are responding to reports of an active shooter near East Grant St. and South Marquette in downtown Minneapolis.

Governor Tim Walz stated on X that his public safety team is responding and state officials are supporting local law enforcement. He promised to share more information as it becomes available.
