Phil Mickelson, a notable figure in golf, has parted ways with a Southern California club following allegations of inappropriate conduct, according to a report by Golf Digest. At 55 years old, Mickelson is no longer welcome at The Farms Golf Club, where he has practiced for years.
The allegations suggest Mickelson engaged in “nonconsensual and inappropriate physical contact” with a female employee at the club. This incident reportedly occurred in the spring. The employee involved rejected Mickelson’s behavior and reported it to her supervisors. Mickelson was later confronted on the course and asked to leave.
The Farms Golf Club confirmed to NBC News that “this individual is no longer a member,” though Mickelson’s name was not explicitly mentioned. The club stated it provided support to the staff member, conducted an independent investigation, and took action based on the findings.
Located in Rancho Santa Fe, about 25 miles from San Diego, The Farms Golf Club has been a longstanding venue for Mickelson. His representatives have not commented, but an attorney has denied the claims, referencing video evidence that contradicts the allegations. Tom Clare, representing Mickelson, mentioned “a great deal of misinformation” and emphasized that Mickelson’s attention is on a family health issue.
According to a spokesperson, any misunderstandings have been resolved. Currently, Mickelson is focusing on his family’s health concerns and has not set a return date for professional golf. In April, he had already announced taking an extended break from competition due to these matters.
Mickelson, a married father of three and winner of multiple major golf championships, is also known for his participation in the Saudi-backed LIV Golf series, which has stirred some controversy.
