Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez from New York has shown her support for Angie Nixon, the Democratic nominee for the U.S. Senate in Florida. Nixon is set to face Republican Senator Ashley Moody in the upcoming November election.
Ocasio-Cortez emphasized the need for leaders committed to working families, criticizing the Administration for siding with special interests. She praised Nixon’s dedication to universal healthcare and childcare, as well as her stance on a national rent freeze. According to Ocasio-Cortez, Nixon’s campaign will not rely on corporate PAC money, focusing instead on building community power.
Nixon expressed gratitude for Ocasio-Cortez’s endorsement, highlighting the Congresswoman’s dedication to public needs over wealth and influence. She underscored her campaign’s aim to address the needs of ignored communities and families.
Angie Nixon, currently a Florida State Representative, is running against Ashley Moody in a special election. Moody was appointed to the Senate seat by Governor Ron DeSantis after Marco Rubio vacated it to become Secretary of State.
President Donald Trump supports Moody and criticized Alex Vindman, Nixon’s primary opponent, following his loss. Trump described Vindman as a ‘treasonous creep’ linked to the impeachment effort against him, celebrating Moody’s candidacy in contrast.
