School officials in West Virginia have suspended Brooke High School principal Eric James after the discovery of recording devices in multiple locker rooms. The criminal investigation focuses on allegations of privacy violations on school grounds.
According to WTOV 9, four devices were found in the female physical education locker rooms, including locations used by the school’s dance team. School administrators were alerted to the situation after students were dismissed for the day. A memo shared with Lede News confirmed the investigation.
Additional searches at James’ home uncovered more devices. He is currently held at the Northern Regional Jail in Marshall County, West Virginia, on a $100,000 bond. James faces two felony charges: one count of intentionally intercepting or attempting to intercept communications and another count of breaking and entering a nonresidential area.
The school system issued a statement emphasizing the priority of student safety and security. It pledged full cooperation with law enforcement and announced plans to engage with students, parents, and staff to provide support during the investigations.
