On Saturday, the Tennessee Volunteers football team began their 2026 season by honoring Parton. During the game at Neyland Stadium, the audience collectively paid their respects to the cherished figure.
Peyton Manning’s Tribute
Peyton Manning acknowledged Parton’s immense impact, stating, “Tennessee won’t be the same without her.” Ahead of the season opener, the team announced a distinct tribute in her honor. Each Volunteers player’s helmet featured an orange butterfly decal with Parton’s name, symbolizing her connection to Tennessee.

In recent seasons, the Volunteers have played Morgan Wallen’s song “The Way I Talk.” However, in tribute to Parton, they opted for her song “My Tennessee Mountain Home” during the fourth quarter.
