Stella Parton Reflects on the Life and Passing of Sister, Dolly Parton
In an exclusive interview with Gayle King on “CBS Mornings,” Stella Parton shared heartfelt memories of her sister, Dolly Parton, who passed away last month. Stella confirmed that Dolly was at peace and prepared for her final moments.
“I knew she was at peace,” Stella said, citing Dolly’s ability to convey her emotions through her facial expressions. Fans are mourning the loss of Dolly, known as a country music icon, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. Stella, however, remembers her simply as a cherished sister with whom she shared weekly phone calls.
“She knew where she was goin’,” Stella remarked, suggesting Dolly found solace in the thought of reuniting with their parents.
The interview took place at Nashville’s RCA Studio A, a historic venue where Dolly recorded. Stella reminisced about their early years in Tennessee and Dolly’s ascent to stardom from humble beginnings.
The Lasting Bond with Carl Thomas Dean
Dolly was married to Carl Thomas Dean for nearly six decades until his passing in March of the previous year. Stella described Dean as quiet and deeply enamored with Dolly, and their relationship as one filled with respect and support.
Despite Dolly’s sadness following Carl’s death, Stella does not believe this contributed to her illness, instead attributing Dolly’s dedication to her work as a constant driving force.
Maintaining an Iconic Presence
Dolly was known for being a savvy businesswoman who kept her political views private. This consistency extended to her personal image. Stella revealed that Dolly never let go of her iconic look, even during private moments with her.
Impact of Loss and Legacy
Stella noted a lack of personal condolences from Nashville’s entertainment circle, possibly due to her outspoken social media presence. Despite this, she cherishes her sister’s enduring optimism and creative spirit.
“Her creativity had no bounds,” Stella stated, hoping that Dolly’s story inspires young people to dream big, much like Dolly did despite their challenging upbringing.
