Louisiana Man Sought After Deadly Stabbings, Child Injured

A man from Louisiana accused of a violent attack in the past is now wanted by law enforcement in connection with several stabbings that left four people dead and a child critically injured. The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff identified 47-year-old Kaegan Jude Solet, from Houma, as a person of interest in a series of incidents in the Ashland Drive area.

Authorities were called to a location on Ashland Drive where they found the severely injured child, according to the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office. The child was airlifted to a hospital outside the region and remains in stable but critical condition after suffering severe injuries.

Search and Discoveries

During the search of nearby homes, deputies discovered four deceased victims. The identities and possible relationships among the victims, the child, and Solet have not been disclosed. Authorities have not provided details on the motive or whether the attacks occurred across multiple homes.

Person of Interest

Solet has not been arrested or formally charged with these recent killings. Identifying him as a person of interest does not imply he is accused of a crime. Investigators believe he may still be in the vicinity but are examining all possibilities.

“We are utilizing every investigative method available,” Lt. Blake Tabor said. “We hope to detain him swiftly.”

Authorities have not found evidence suggesting Solet intends to flee the state. He remains at large.

Past Allegations

Solet’s history with violent crime allegations is not new. He was arrested in December 2019 after allegedly stabbing a woman multiple times in a Houma motel. The woman was found with critical injuries after responding officers entered the room. Witnesses reported hearing cries for help from the room, leading to the discovery of the wounded victim.

Solet was identified as the suspect at the time, involving a physical confrontation after being invited into the woman’s room. He reportedly fled, leaving the woman locked inside after the incident.

Previous Legal Proceedings

In January 2019, Solet faced another warrant for second-degree murder related to the killing of Kemple Paul Scott Lovell. The sheriff’s office’s investigation at the time led detectives to search for Solet.

Details about the resolution of both 2019 cases were not available. Questions remain regarding why Solet was not in custody, which Lt. Tabor acknowledged as a concern.

“How this occurred is unclear, but it’s a question that needs resolution,” Tabor noted regarding Solet’s release.
