Colin Kaepernick Criticizes NFL and Shares Views on Activism During ‘The View’ Interview

Colin Kaepernick, the former NFL quarterback, spoke out against the Trump administration during his appearance on ‘The View.’ He accused the NFL of political alignment with the administration, claiming they supported it with donations.

During the interview with co-host Ana Navarro, Kaepernick reflected on his experience after beginning his protest by kneeling during the national anthem. He noted the fallout from his protest led to being forced to opt out of his contract with the San Francisco 49ers, leaving him unsigned by any other team.

NFL teams denied collusion was involved in his sidelining, leading to a confidential resolution following Kaepernick’s legal action. He asserted the league’s response to his protest revealed its political stance.

Kaepernick released a book, ‘The Perilous Fight,’ where he delves into his career and activism. Sunny Hostin, another co-host, supported his stance, acknowledging significant support and boycotts of the NFL due to its reaction.

Kaepernick emphasized the potential power NFL players hold. With a workforce that is approximately 70% Black, he suggested unified action could lead to meaningful change.

Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin queried Kaepernick on the backlash he received, which included significant hate and death threats from those who opposed his protest. His response was measured, expressing some surprise at the extent of criticism.

Historically, Black athletes like Tommie Smith, John Carlos, Muhammad Ali, Curt Flood, and Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf have faced similar backlash when protesting. Kaepernick also noted his astonishment at the resistance to discussions about police treatment of Black individuals.

Fox News Digital sought comments from the NFL and the White House but did not receive immediate replies. Earlier, Kaepernick stated his refusal to support the NFL due to its alleged blackballing, redirecting his attention to college football.
