Impact of Halting U.S. Air Quality Monitoring on Global Pollution Levels

19 minutes ago 0

A recent study revealed a rise in air pollution across many global cities following the cessation of air quality monitoring by U.S. embassies and consulates. This change occurred when the U.S. stopped this program last year. The program previously provided independent air quality data at over 80 diplomatic sites.

The decision to halt the program stemmed from budgetary limitations cited by the Trump administration. This change took effect in March 2025. Without this monitoring, various cities experienced increased levels of air pollution, as the study detailed.
