The Dallas Cowboys achieved a significant NFC East triumph over the Washington Commanders on Sunday, concluding the game with a score of 37-20. However, the match delivered an unexpected experience for Cowboys cornerback Cobie Durant.
Durant engaged in defense against Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin in the end zone during the second quarter. As quarterback Jayden Daniels launched a powerful pass over McLaurin’s head, Durant fell to the ground, landing squarely on his chest.

In an unexpected turn of events, Cowboys safety Markquese Bell, moving backward, inadvertently stepped on Durant’s rear and groin area, intensifying the discomfort for the already injured cornerback. Durant remained down for some time, receiving assistance from the Cowboys’ trainers. Eventually, he left the match and did not return.
Durant, who joined the Cowboys during the offseason on a one-year contract totaling $4 million, previously played four seasons with the Los Angeles Rams. Durant recorded 141 tackles and seven interceptions across 61 games with the Rams. Prior to sustaining his injury, he managed one tackle and a pass breakup in the previous week’s game against the New York Giants.
On another note, the Cowboys successfully restricted the Commanders to 10 points in the second half, benefiting from Daniels’ elbow dislocation. Dallas executed a fumble on Dyami Brown, marking the single turnover of the game.
With this victory, Dallas evolved to a 1-1 record for the season, while Washington declined to 0-2.
