Flight 93 Hero’s Father Criticizes Ties Between Hasan Piker and Abdul El-Sayed

David Beamer, the father of Todd Beamer, a passenger on Flight 93 and a hero of the September 11 attacks, expressed criticism against the streamer Hasan Piker and his connections to Michigan Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed. A campaign video was released Monday supporting El-Sayed’s Republican opponent Mike Rogers, highlighting these ties.

The video, created by the Great Lakes Conservative Fund super PAC, commenced with a 2019 clip of Piker claiming America “deserved 9/11.” It also included footage of El-Sayed on Piker’s Twitch livestream and instances of El-Sayed’s refusal to disavow Piker when asked to do so.

“Those 43 people on Flight 93 were not victims. They were killed in action. When I hear anyone suggest America ‘deserves 9/11’ my question is, ‘Who would say that?’”

Beamer narrated the ad, introducing his son Todd Beamer as a hero who fought back against the terrorists on United Flight 93.

Though El-Sayed has rejected Piker’s 9/11 remark, he has hesitated to completely renounce the streamer. Piker campaigned with him during the Democratic primary.

Elizabeth Pipko, a former Republican National Committee spokesperson, expressed her frustration over the political involvement families like Beamer’s endure to protect their loved ones’ legacies. “How incredibly disappointing that, 25 years after those horrific attacks, Todd Beamer’s family is still unable to simply mourn their son and speak about his heroism. Instead, they find themselves having to teach their fellow Americans a lesson they themselves wish they never had to learn,” Pipko stated.

Pipko emphasized Todd Beamer’s representation of the American spirit. “Todd’s character, and the American spirit of grit and guts he embodied, is what we should not only remember, but also look for in the leaders we elect to serve our great country,” she added.

Theo Wold, a former assistant attorney general and White House deputy assistant under Trump, remarked that Piker’s association might continue to impact El-Sayed’s campaign unless Piker is entirely denounced. “Antifa Democrats and their friends in the media say a lot of dangerous and incendiary things. Hasan Piker, who endorses political violence and has denigrated the Americans killed on September 11th, has repeatedly campaigned alongside his friend El Sayed,” said Wold. He noted that El-Sayed’s hesitance to denounce Piker arises not only from their friendship but because “Leftists like them don’t believe there are any boundaries when they are pursuing their ideological goals.”

Fox News Digital reached out to representatives from the Gold Star Families and the campaigns of El-Sayed and Rogers but received no immediate response.
