Incident on USS Dwight D. Eisenhower Injures U.S. Service Members

Four U.S. service members sustained injuries during an incident on the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower, located off the Virginia coast, on Monday. The U.S. Navy reported the event.

The Navy described the incident as a “mishap” that happened around 6:18 p.m. EDT amidst “aircraft recovery operations.” During this event, two aviators from the Navy were forced to eject from their aircraft and were quickly rescued by search-and-rescue teams. While the specific type of aircraft involved was not disclosed, the Navy confirmed the aviators are part of Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 3.

Additionally, four individuals on the Eisenhower received injuries and have been given medical care. Of these, one was transported to a hospital near Norfolk, Virginia, for further treatment. The Navy assured that the injuries are not life-threatening.
